For an art installation entitled Ballroom Luminoso, artists Joe O’Connell and Blessing Hancock created and hung six awesome chandeliers from a concrete underpass in San Antonio, Texas. The chandeliers were custom-made using structural steel, recycled bicycle parts, and custom LEDs that project a field of silhouettes of sprockets, gears, and other shapes onto the blank slate of an otherwise unremarkable industrial surface.

Why does there have to be a music festival called Spring Awakening? Every time I go into the SA tag there are so many posts about the music festival :(
Why couldn’t they call it something else
Dear Mom,
I’m sorry I’m in a serious monogamous relationship with a man. If something happens to my current relationship, I will make sure for your sake that I screw around with as many willing participants as possible so that I figure out “what I want before settling down.”
Side note: Women are not excluded from my potential future endeavors. Maybe if my boyfriend isn’t what I really want, I’ll discover a girlfriend that is. Which would you prefer?
Lovingly,
Your daughter
the principal at my school made an announcement yesterday that the girls need to start covering up and then i found this in the hallway
Really? This person is really going to pretend that men think ENTIRELY different from women. Shows their age/ignorance. Why do women(and girls) ignore men over and over again when they explain to them that they are VISUAL creatures. It takes effort to control sexual desires as a man. Most women don’t think of most of the men they meet everyday in a sexual way. Unlike men who do. They say they do. So having rules regarding attire that isn’t overly revealing isn’t illogical or overbearing. It makes sense. But so many young people are so idealistic and lack any nuance into their philosophy of life(the same philosophy on life that will inevitably change with time and experience).
“It takes effort to control sexual desires as a man.” And? Explain to me why I should alter how I choose to dress because you don’t want to put forth that effort? You don’t get to control my body just because you don’t want to control yours.
I don’t know why it’s still surprising when these “it marginally effects/inconveniences me” arguments crop up. Whatever a woman wears is entirely her own business. Furthermore, unless she’s calling attention to herself in attempt to create such an effect (such as many sexualized jobs require), an on-lookers reaction is their own problem. (Just to clarify, even if a woman’s intent is to arouse, it still doesn’t give anyone else the right to make her do anything she doesn’t want to.)
Additionally, if a man can’t help but uncontrollably objectify a woman when looking at her, it’s his problems, not hers, therefore not her responsibility to fix. It speaks to the man’s lack of self control and general views on how he should think about women, and his level of respect for them.
“It takes effort to control sexual desires as a man.”
SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL PROBLEM SIR.
I mean c’mon, that’s like going out and then because it’s a little chilly you complain to the wind that “it takes effort to retain heat” and wanting the temperature to fix itself to convenience you. Stop being lazy and go get a jacket. You’re not THAT incompetent.
